This one is only a slight upgrade, though. Camera etc are much the same. The more powerful chip is noticeable when in use. My biggest issue is battery. It didn't need to be slimmer and lighter, because it was already a compact size. It needed a bigger capacity battery, that doesn't run so hot. This thing gets insanely hot if, say, you are running android auto with sat nav going. To the point where the phone shuts down. Not good, during a long car journey to somewhere you don't know. So, this has not changed from the 7. I was hoping it would. Everything else is good.
I have had the samsung flip 4, flip 6 and just upgraded to flip 8. I have loved all of them. The samsung flip 8 is thinner and the display is really sharp. Although I have not had much time with it, I am enjoying it so far. There does seem to be a few bugs I am having to work out which I have never experienced before. I am not very good with technology so it is taking me some time with the help of AI. The phone shows that it is off line sometimes and the airplane mode comes on. That has been frustrating. All in all, I hope to work out the bugs and enjoy this phone as much as my previous flip phones.

The full back display and cameras being on the same surface allows for photography moments that no other smartphone series does. The Z Flip8 feels lighter and yet more durable than it's predecessors and after double checking right now... The main screen 'crease' is nowhere to be seen. The only place where the phone feels lacking is it's battery performance. It's not bad by any means but is also nothing to write home about and will need a charge before the day is up as well as overnight. Genuinely a fun and functional flip phone - would recommend!

I just wanted a flip phone after look on reviews of the 7 then the 8 came out so i just pulled the trigger. Overall its just an flip 7 upgraded for this year My only major complaints are the slow charging speeds considering the new battery tech as well as the phone generates alot of heat when charging, playing games and taking video. The front screen is nice just to check what to ignore and what to open the phone for. Although i wish it could rotate the screen. Even with all of that I've been enjoying the phone for the purpose i bought it which is to use my phone less. If you're considering purchasing this phone first ask yourself why then try and get it at a discount via trade in or promo because i just got mine for less then 1k after trading in my s23

Really disappointed with the Galaxy Z Fold8. For such an expensive phone, the battery life is poor, it gets noticeably warm during normal use, and the crease is still very obvious. Definitely doesn't feel worth the premium price.

I've been a Samsung user for as long as I can remember — well, apart from my legendary Nokia 3310 days! 😂 One thing I love about Samsung is that my loyalty has always felt rewarded. With almost every new launch, I've been able to upgrade and pass my previous — usually still very new! — Samsung phone to my daughter, who happily enjoys my pre-loved devices. Somehow, one Samsung upgrade becomes an upgrade for two people in our family. This time, I'm jumping from the Galaxy S25 Ultra to the Galaxy Z Flip8, and what a difference! I recently attended a wedding while on summer holiday, and honestly, I wish I'd had the Flip8 then. Anyone who loves a beautiful little clutch bag knows the struggle of trying to fit a full-sized phone inside without the phone becoming the main item in the bag! 😂 The Flip8 folds so perfectly into smaller bags that this alone has become one of my favourite things about it. Coming from the S25 Ultra, I wondered whether going smaller would feel like a compromise. So far, it doesn't. When folded, it's wonderfully compact, but open it and I still get the beautiful, spacious Samsung display I'm accustomed to. The hinge feels smooth and solid, and there is something incredibly satisfying about flipping it shut when I'm done. I'm still getting to know the battery performance and long-term durability, so I'll reserve my final judgement on those. But my first impression is that I haven't downgraded from my Ultra — I've simply chosen a different kind of flagship experience, one that fits my lifestyle (and my clutch bags!) a little better. 😉 Another Samsung launch, another upgrade for me… and another very happy daughter waiting for her “new” phone. 😂📱 Some traditions are worth keeping.

The hinge seems sturdy and you cannot see a crease in the screen at all. I thought the crease would be more prominent and i would hope it stays clear over time. Not sure how the battery is, but if it lasts longer than an iphone, that’s great!

On a user side, not many noticeable changes for my day to day use, but I really love the new external screen size; it makes the phone more practical to use, and is more like I was envisioning when the clamshell style was first announced. One difference I wasn’t really expecting is the change in material of the coloured panel at the back. The flip 5 is a glossy glass, while the new flip 8 appears matte. I did have issues with scratching on my previous phone, so I'm hoping this will hold up better.

Okay naman yung Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 para sa akin. Nagustuhan ko yung durability niya kasi mas improved na yung build, kaya mas kampante akong gamitin araw-araw. Sa battery, okay din siya for normal daily ussocial media, calls, videos, at messages, hindi naman agad nauubos. Maganda rin yung display, malinaw at smooth lalo na kapag nanonood ng videos. Sa performance naman, mabilis siya gamitin at hindi laggy kahit maraming apps yung ginagamit ko. Overall, compact siya, convenient dalhin, pero powerful pa rin for everyday use.”

The best form factor from Samsung so far. I've been using Samsung phones for more than 15 years, and this is the first time a wider phone has made so much sense to me. I read a lot of articles and like staying connected with people, and the wider outer screen is genuinely great for that. I can glance at the phone and see the important information without constantly moving my eyes from top to bottom. I've never liked how ridiculously tall and long phones have become, so this form factor feels refreshing. And when I want more screen, I just open it. It's great for showing photos to family and friends, sharing stories from hikes and travels, watching documentaries, or learning something new. Interestingly, I use the phone closed about 70% of the time. For me, that's the real awesome factor. The big inner screen isn't the main reason I like this phone; it's an added benefit when I need it. Coming from the S25 Ultra, I definitely feel like I've lost a little of the camera awesomeness, and in that respect it can feel like a downgrade. But it's a trade-off I'm happy with. The form factor, the wider screen, and especially how the phone feels in my hand make it worth it. Samsung finally made a foldable where I love using it closed just as much as open.
The crease/hinge is barely visible based on the previous models and I actually love the display size. There's also a noticeable improvement in the battery life and durability from the fold 7.

I've never had any issues with the creases in either of my flips. Once you have a good case on it, there shouldn't be any reason why it should break or get damaged! I have marked it down a star as it does feel a lot bigger than the flip 6, my personal preference is for it to feel more compact. Whilst it is thinner, it does feel a lot wider, especially with a case on.
