How to use Screen Fit on your Samsung The Freestyle+
Screen Fit is a feature of AI OptiScreen on The Freestyle+ that automatically adjust the image size and position to match the projector screen area, keeping the original 16:9 content ratio. This guide explains how to turn on Screen Fit, how it behaves based on detection results, and how it works with Obstacle Avoidance.
What is Screen Fit
Screen Fit detect the projection area and automatically adjust the image size and position to match the projector screen area. The original 16:9 content ratio is maintained during adjustment, providing a stable screen without manual setup.
When the projection environment changes, a pattern is briefly displayed on the screen for analysis, along with an on-screen indicator.
How to turn on Screen Fit
Screen Fit can be set up in the AI OptiScreen Settings menu. The default value is Off, so it must be turned on manually.
Step 1. Press the Home button on your remote.
Step 2. Select Menu > Settings.
Step 3. Select All Settings.
Step 4. Select General & Privacy > Projector Settings.
Step 5. Go to AI OptiScreen Settings > Screen Fit, then switch it to On.
Screen Fit behavior by detection result
When Screen Fit is turned on, the camera projects a pattern onto the screen to analyze the area. Depending on the detection result, one of the following outcomes applies.
Calibration complete
• Screen Fit adjusts the image to match the viewing environment.
• The original 16:9 content ratio is maintained.
Detection failed
The screen could not be detected within the projection area.
• An on-screen guide message appears.
An example of the guide message displayed when screen detection fails is shown below.
"Screen not found. Adjust the device so the entire screen fits within the projection area."
Interaction with Obstacle Avoidance
Screen Fit and Obstacle Avoidance are designed to work together.
How they activate together
- Turning on Screen Fit automatically turns on Obstacle Avoidance.
- Obstacle Avoidance can also be used on its own, with Screen Fit off.
When 3D Auto Keystone is off
- Both Screen Fit and Obstacle Avoidance are automatically turned off, and their menus become inactive. Selecting an inactive menu shows a message explaining that the feature is unavailable.
- Turning 3D Auto Keystone back on does not automatically restore Screen Fit or Obstacle Avoidance — they remain off until manually turned on again.
Note:
- This feature is supported on The Freestyle+ model.
- Depending on the model or region, this feature may not be supported.
- Screen Fit is available only when it is turned on. (Default: Off)
- When Screen Fit fails, the Obstacle Avoidance algorithm operates to compensate for the screen alignment.
- The original 16:9 content ratio is maintained when adjusting the image size and position.
- Projection capabilities may vary depending on the surrounding environment, and certain features may be limited.
- If the screen is not aligned correctly, adjust the device position and surrounding environment, and try again.
- Images simulated for illustrative purposes.
- Menu names and screen layouts may vary depending on the firmware version.
